The Small Print

Privacy Policy

This is a small website run by one person. Here is exactly what it collects, what it does not, and what happens to your email address if you hand it over.

Last updated 29 September 2026.

The short version

What this site does not do

No cookies. No analytics. No advertising networks, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts following you around. Nothing you do here is profiled, scored, or sold. I have never sold a reader's data and I am not going to start.

What I collect

Only what you type in

There are two forms on this site, and they are the only places this website asks you for anything.

The contact form. If you write to me, you send your name, your email address, and your message. I need the email address to reply.

The reader list. If you subscribe, you send your email address and nothing else. No name, no location, no date of birth.

Both forms are handled by Formspree, a form-delivery service that passes the submission on to me by email. Formspree processes it in transit and holds a copy in my account there.

What the server sees

Ordinary web logs

Like every website, the server that hosts this one keeps standard access logs: IP address, browser type, which page was requested and when. This happens automatically for every visitor and is not linked to anything else. The site is hosted by Hostinger.

The typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers receive your IP address when a page loads. That is the only third party your browser contacts here.

What I do with it

Answer you, and tell you about books

If you wrote to me, I read it and I reply. If you joined the reader list, I use your address to send news about the Harbor of Secrets books — cover reveals, release days, advance reader copies, the occasional note from the writing desk. That is all. I will not pass your address to anyone else, and no one else is paying me for it.

How long I keep it

Until you tell me otherwise

Reader list addresses stay until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you. Contact messages I keep as long as the conversation is useful, which is usually not long. Server logs age out on the host's ordinary schedule.

Your say in it

Ask and it is done

You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write to hello@remyfontaine.com and I will do it — no form, no hoops, no attempt to talk you out of it. Every email I send to the reader list has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

Two more things

Links out, and younger readers

This site links to Amazon, Instagram, Facebook and other places. Once you follow one of those links you are on their website under their rules, and I have no control over what they collect.

This site is intended for adult readers and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent me their details, write to me and I will delete them.

Changes

If this policy changes

The date at the top changes with it. If a change is significant — a new service handling your email, for instance — I will say so to the reader list rather than quietly editing the page.

Questions about any of this: hello@remyfontaine.com.
